Ellen Allien is a pioneering force in Berlin’s techno underground, known for her fearless independence, creative vision, and decades-long influence across electronic music, art, design, and fashion. As the founder and head of BPitch and UFO Inc., she has championed emerging talent while developing her own distinctive sound through 11 solo albums, extensive collaborations, remixes, and influential releases. Her music blends emotional techno with elements of darkwave, minimalism, and hypnotic rave, reflecting her deep connection to both the history and future of electronic music.

Beyond her work as an artist and label head, Allien is a respected curator and community builder. Her We Are Not Alone events and compilation series have become platforms for collective expression, while projects such as Vinylism and her Balcony Streaming sessions showcase her commitment to connecting artists and audiences. She has performed at major clubs and festivals worldwide and has increasingly brought techno into contemporary cultural spaces, including Berlin’s Hamburger Bahnhof, where her performances have attracted thousands and earned her a Polyton Award. Named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture in 2023, Allien continues to bridge underground culture with the wider art world while maintaining the DIY spirit and uncompromising creativity that have defined her career.
