Fred P, also known as Black Jazz Consortium, is a pivotal figure in the deep house and electronic music landscape. With over two decades of sonic exploration, his music transcends the dance floor, serving as both a personal and collective journey into introspection and transformation. Rooted in spirituality, authenticity, and innovation, Fred’s sound is a conduit for emotional resonance—a universal language designed to uplift and inspire.

Born and raised in New York City, Fred’s formative years were shaped by the city’s vibrant underground scene, where the legacies of Larry Heard, Frankie Knuckles, and Strictly Rhythm’s golden era left an indelible mark. However, his artistry extends far beyond his influences. "My service is to the music, and the music is for the people," Fred once said—a testament to his ethos of creating with purpose and intention.

His prolific catalog, including standout releases like States of Bliss, 6AM, and the Rhythms from the Road series, showcases his fearless blend of ambient
textures, jazz inflections, and hypnotic house grooves. Through his labels—Soul People Music, Private Society, and the newly launched Collective Resource—Fred has cultivated spaces for sonic experimentation, offering everything from secret DJ weapons to deeply meditative compositions.

Fred’s DJ sets are immersive experiences, known for their seamless storytelling and ability to guide dancers through reflective, soul-stirring territories.
Whether performing at institutions like Panorama Bar, Tresor, or in intimate spaces around the world, he crafts atmospheres where music becomes a
transformative force. His commitment to evolution is equally evident in projects like his long-form work Counterpoise, his subscriber-focused releases on Private Society, and the forthcoming live Black Jazz Consortium trio, blending electronics with organic instrumentation.

After relocating to Berlin in 2012 and navigating the solitude of the pandemic, Fred found renewed clarity, deepening his connection to music and community. His post-lockdown work reflects this growth—raw, heartfelt, and infused with the wisdom of lived experience. Beyond the decks and the studio, his e-book Pathways To Sonic Alchemy delves into the philosophy behind his craft, offering insights into sound as both art and a tool for self-discovery.
