AWEN, a French-Malian-Senegalese singer-songwriter, has built a career that reflects the multiple meanings of her name in Celtic mythology — from muse of creativity to a bridge between worlds. Born in Paris and raised between different cultures, she first pursued a successful legal career in Hong Kong before a personal loss in 2016 led her to return to France and commit fully to music. Drawing from her African heritage and inspirations like Nina Simone and Bob Marley, she developed a distinctive Afro-house sound, blending electronic textures with soulful melodies and spiritual undertones.

Her breakout came with “Your Voice” (2020), a heartfelt track originally written for her unborn son, which became a cult favorite among house music fans. A chance encounter with the song by DJ Adam Port led to a 2022 remix that dominated charts and electrified Coachella. Alongside other notable tracks like “Gold,” “Kusimama,” and her DFTD release “Time” with Christoph, AWEN has captivated an international audience with her empowering lyrics and enigmatic aesthetic.

Commanding at 6 feet tall with her signature braids and a deep, resonant voice, AWEN transforms her live performances into immersive experiences, combining mixing, singing, and visual artistry. With her global perspective — shaped by life in Europe, Africa, and Asia — and her mission to bring Afro-house to a wider stage, AWEN’s trajectory feels destined, as if living up to the divine inspiration her name embodies.
