DJ/producer Andrey Pushkarev has made his mark with his established signature sound of deep, driving, vinyl records after more than twenty years behind the decks. A true “DJ’s DJ”, Andrey is renowned for his large record collection and is often closely associated with the Yoyaku family, tINI, Izhevski, Dana Ruh, Cab Drivers, Roger Gerressen, Janeret, and Gorje Hewek among others. His experience and talent behind the decks creates a room-filling aura that is just as powerful as his record selection. ANDREY PUSHKAREV:

Born in 1981 in a tiny town of the Pre-Ural region, Votkinsk, I’m a Russian DJ touring worldwide. My sets range from deep, melodic techno, to soul-beating house.

I started DJ-ing at the age of 15 without any prior musical education. After moving to Moscow in 2000, while performing at night, during the day I worked for the Russian branch of the German music distribution company TraumBaum. For 3 years I was overseeing exclusive import of foreign vinyl and DJ gear into Russia. Gradually, I assembled my own collection of 6 000 rare records.

In 2006, I became a resident DJ of the unique web radio DeepMix.ru that was broadcasting non-commercial techno music for free and without any advertising to 6 000 monthly listeners from 53 countries till the end of summer 2011.

As a result of these rather unusual, deep, melodic and uncompromising techno broadcasts, I started to receive requests to play abroad. My first DJ performance outside of Russia, in 2007, in France, followed by tours in Europe, South America and USA. Recently, I have appeared as the main protagonist of the 2013 documentary feature film Kvadrat, exploring the realities of techno DJing, shot in 5 countries.
