Raw and unfiltered: describes Detroit producer Omar-S's music, as well as his personality. But once you hear him speak, you'll find that there's more than meets the eye. Detroit dance music works on the mind and the body in equal measure; this requires true artistry, providing a rhythm that’s impossible not to move to. ABOUT THE ARTISTS: 

 

Omar S:

Born and raised in the Conant Gardens neighborhood of Detroit, Omar S (real name Alexander Omar Smith) is noted for his raw, stripped-back approach to both creating, releasing, and marketing his music. His enigmatic and prolific output has cemented him as a local legend with international prominence. 

Omar S is synonymous with Detroit Techno and House music, despite historically resisting the inclinations of media to categorize or define him. The artist is known for maintaining a fiercely independent, and low-key public profile. 

Omar S has self-released most of his own music on his record label, FXHE Records Detroit, funding the production and distribution. He rarely works with other labels and keeps his list of collaborators close. Smith has alluded to the reason behind the decision, saying, “I don’t have a good relationship with a lot of distributors. So why waste money?” 

FXHE has released a growing list of critically acclaimed and provocative albums and singles by Omar S including his pair of recent records, “Fuck Resident Advisor” and the subsequent “Still Fucking Resident Advisor”.
